Marsh Fire off Assawoman Canal - Assist Millville VFC - 04/16/2022

The BBVFC along with Millville VFC, Roxana VFC, Frankford VFC and the Ocean City Fire Department (MD) were dispatched to a working structure fire on Black Gum Rd in South Bethany near the Assawoman Canal. When crews arrived, it was determined that there was a large marsh fire on the west side of the canal approximately a 1/4 mile south of the Jefferson Bridge. Both BBVFC and Roxana sent crews back for marine vessels to combat the fire. The Sussex County Technical Rescue Team was requested for their portable pump to assist with extinguishing the fire. Crews had it under control in 2 1/2 hours.
