The summer like Saturday in Bethany Beach was perfect weather for the community to come to headquarters and see the Emergency Medical Resource’s that protect our community every day. At 0955 Station 70 and Medic 105 where dispatched to a report of a vehicle in a structure at the Sunshine Plaza on Costal Highway Fenwick Island. Chief Martin in 70-8 along with B-70 and Rescue 70 responded to the scene and found one car into the structure. The patient refused care and BLS obtained documentation and canceled Medic 105. Rescue 70 performed a hazard assessment and mitigated the glass hanging over the vehicle.

At 1430 hours the new Quint 70-5 and Tower 70 arrived at our headquarters on Hollywood street. Members and Officers checked over the new units and began the long process of loading hose and laying out equipment. Following several weeks of training and outfitting at headquarters, the units will go out for tool mounting then return to be placed in service.

At 1032 hours Station 70 was dispatched to an outside fire at 28 Seaside Drive. Assistant Chief Moore responded with 70-8 and found a small mulch fire that was quickly extinguished by Brush 70.

Firefighters and Officers from BBVFC drilled for the worst situation any company can face, a trapped / missing firefighter. Using experienced instructors from Wilmington and the DCFD, Traditions Training created real life scenarios that challenged both officers and firefighters. Crews utilized search ropes, thermal imaging cameras, ladders, hand tools and hose lines to complete tasks.
