Collapse Rescue In Gerogetown - Rt 9 East Of Harbeson

Sunday, May 6, 2007

After a busy morning in the Bethany Beach area, the afternoon followed the same trend, this time sending Brush 70 with the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team's Special Ops Trailer #2 to assist the Georgetown VFD with a collapse rescue. Upon arrival, SCTRT members, as well as Georgetown, Milton, Laurel and Bethany Beach firefighters, Georgetown EMS and SCEMS went to work shoring and securing the structure, and lifted it off of the trapped victim; freeing him in about 60 minutes after time of dispatch. The victim was flown to a regional trauma center for evaluation. A very good, cooperative effort was done by all involved.
